Frequently asked
Calgary moving FAQ
Straight answers about booking, pricing, coverage and moving day. Don't see your question? Give us a call.
How soon can you schedule my move?
On weekdays we can usually book you within 24 to 48 hours. Weekends and the end of the month go fastest, so reserve those dates a few days out if you can. We also keep last-minute openings every day, so a quick call is always worthwhile.
Can you move me today?
Quite possibly. Same-day and next-day slots are set aside daily, and short notice never costs extra. Call (587) 377-4224 and we'll tell you what's open.
Is your company licensed and insured?
Yes. We're licensed in Alberta, and every member of the crew is covered by WCB. Cargo protection comes with the standard rate, and you can ask for additional valuation coverage when you book.
What's included in the standard rate?
Your hourly rate pays for two trained movers and a fully equipped truck, fuel for trips inside Calgary, moving blankets, and the basic tools needed to take furniture apart and put it back together. Boxes, packing paper and bubble wrap are extra, and you're charged only for what actually gets used.
How is the final price calculated?
You pay your crew's hourly rate for the time spent working, plus a travel fee equal to one extra hour at that same rate. Appliances, heavy items and exercise equipment are priced per piece, and 5% GST is added at the end. Our moving cost calculator shows the full breakdown.
How long will my move take?
It depends on the size of the home and how easy it is to get in and out. As a rough guide: a studio or one-bedroom apartment takes about 2 hours with two movers, a two-bedroom apartment about 3 hours, a two-bedroom townhouse or house about 4 hours with three movers, a three-bedroom house about 5 hours, and a four-bedroom house around 8 hours with a crew of three.
What do you need from me to prepare a quote?
A name and phone number are enough to get started. If you can, also share your moving date, both addresses, the size of your home and anything heavy or unusual. The more we know, the more accurate your estimate will be.
Can you supply boxes and packing materials?
We can. Boxes, packing paper, bubble wrap and tape can be dropped off before your move, or the crew can bring them on moving day if you've booked our packing services.
Do you move pianos, gun safes and other heavy items?
Yes. Pianos, gun safes and similar heavy pieces are priced per item on top of the hourly rate, because they need extra hands and equipment. Mention them when you ask for a quote so we send the right crew.
Can you move appliances and exercise equipment?
Absolutely. Fridges, washers, dryers, treadmills and ellipticals are moved with dollies, straps and padding. Each appliance or piece of equipment has a small per-item charge, which you can see in the calculator.
Can you move me into a building with an elevator?
Yes. Reserve the elevator with your building first and share the time window with us. We coordinate with the concierge or property manager and plan the move around your booking. Our apartment movers page has more detail.
Do you handle long-distance moves within Alberta?
Yes. Banff, Canmore, Cochrane, Airdrie and Okotoks are regular destinations, along with many other Alberta communities. For moves beyond city limits we can usually quote a flat rate, so the price is settled before moving day. Learn more about our long-distance movers.
